Light & Wonder has launched its Squid Game-themed online slot, Squid Game: One Lucky Day, in the UK and Europe. The game will be available for two weeks beginning today (13 March 2024) before general release and can be accessed exclusively via Bally’s Interactive.

Squid Game: One Lucky Day is a 5x4 reel slot with 40 win lines and three bonus rounds, including a Red Light Green Light bonus round and Tug of War bonus round inspired by events from the Netflix tv show.

Light & Wonder CEO iGaming Dylan Slaney said: “Our in-house teams have done a superb job capturing the essence of the series in Squid Game: One Lucky Day, the latest example of how we are able to combine fan-favourite shows with immersive gameplay. It’s a landmark game we are proud of and which we believe will resonate strongly with our operator partners and their players globally, a process that begins exclusively with Bally’s Interactive in the UK.”

Slot games integrating popular IPs was a topic of conversation brought up in our exclusive interview with BetMGM Gaming VP Angus Nisbet earlier this month, in response to the company’s Star Trek-themed slot, Star Trek: The Next Generation. In the interview, Nisbet said: “You've got to give yourself a chance, really, and IP partnerships and brand partnerships are just one way of doing that... So Star Trek, The Godfather, Charlie's Angels or the other deals that we've done? They let you stand out on the shelf.”

The launch of Squid Game: One Lucky Day comes following this week's news of Aristocrat’s intention to sue Light & Wonder for copying one of its games, Dragon Link, with its own title called Dragon Train.
