Gustav Georgson has been appointed as the new Head of Community Relations and Public Affairs at Svenska Spel. This appointment will be effective 29 April 2024.

Georgson will bring a wealth of experience to the role, having an extensive background in political affairs. Most recently, this experience saw him serving as a political expert at the Liberals' coordination office within the government.

Additionally, Georgson has previously held positions such as head of communications and Deputy Party Secretary for the Liberals' national organisation, as well as serving as an advisor to the party leadership during the 2022 parliamentary election.

At Svenska Spel, he aims to play a pivotal role in developing and strengthening relationships with stakeholders amid ongoing debates surrounding the gambling market, particularly in the wake of its reregulation five years ago.

With regard to Georgson’s appointment, Frank Hojem, Head of Communications and Sustainability at Svenska Spel, stated: “Five years after the reregulation of the gambling market, gambling for money is still the subject of much debate.

“With Gustav's expertise in public affairs, we will continue to develop the relationship with Svenska Spel's stakeholders. We must be a clear voice in the debate and contribute concrete views on the industry's most important issues. Gustav will have a central role in this work.”

Georgson himself added: “I have always had a positive opinion of Svenska Spel as an actor with an important role in society. I look forward to working together with my new colleagues to consolidate the position as a responsible role model in the gaming market.”

At the back end of 2023, Svenska Spel also announced the appointment of Anna Johnson as its new President and CEO – an appointment that is set to come into effect no later than June 2024.
