Wynn Resorts has announced the appointment of Max Tappeiner as the President of Wynn Al Marjan Island, effective 1 September 2024.
Tappeiner was SVP and EVP of Operations for Wynn Las Vegas when he joined in 2022 before his current appointment.
Prior to his term at Wynn Resorts, Tappeiner held senior leadership positions at Resorts World, Venetian and Palazzo, as well as years of experience in non-gaming luxury businesses.
These included Mandarin Oriental and Kempinski in gateway cities like Washington DC, New York, London, Berlin and Munich.
“I’m looking forward to this exciting journey as we expand to a new territory as the first gaming operator in the UAE,” Tappeiner said on LinkedIn.
Tappeiner will be replacing Thomas Schoen, who was appointed as Wynn Al Marjan’s President in 2023. There was no update regarding Schoen's status, however.
Wynn Al Marjan Island is located in Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The project was a collaborative effort between Wynn Resorts and the UAE, with Local partners Marjan LLC and Rak Hospitality Holding.
The resort was designed to overlook the Arabian gulf, with amenities including a hotel with 1,500 rooms, suites, and villas, entertainment and gaming amenities containing 24 dining venues and lounges, spa and wellness area, a high-end shopping esplanade, an events center and a theater.
Currently, the project is slated for opening in 2027. Inits Q2 revenue report, Wynn Resorts said it had contributed $356.5m for the continuous development of this project.
