International Game Technology (IGT) has announced the signing of a three-year contract with Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (SCML), the operator of Portugal's national lottery.
The agreement, secured by IGT’s subsidiary, IGT Global Solutions Corporation, designates IGT as the primary provider of instant ticket printing and related services to SCML. The contract was awarded following a competitive bidding process.
Under the terms of the contract, SCML will gain access to IGT's portfolio of instant ticket content, which includes a variety of game options. In addition to the printing of tickets, IGT will offer marketing services such as game development and analytics aimed at tailoring products to the preferences of the Portuguese market.
IGT has been SCML’s main technology partner since 2000, providing a range of services, including retail central system hardware, software, terminal maintenance and field support. This latest contract continues the long-standing relationship between the two entities.
In the United States, IGT supplies technology to 26 of the 46 state lotteries. The company also holds contracts with several of the largest lotteries globally.
Jay Gendron, IGT COO, said: "IGT's longtime partnership with SCML and extensive knowledge of the Portuguese market will enable us to work closely with the Lottery to offer world-class instant ticket games based on the local needs of its players."
Earlier this month, IGT appointed Nick Khin as President of Global Gaming, reflecting a shift in leadership aimed at strengthening its position in the gaming industry.
Additionally, IGT has been enhancing its sports betting operations in the US, including a recent partnership with Monarch Casino & Resort, which involves the provision of its PlaySports platform and related services.
