Macau’s Labour Affairs Bureau will be hosting a jobs matchmaking session for its gaming operators this month.
According to Macau news reports, there will be around 1,838 job vacancies offered in these sessions. Applications will be accepted from 3 September until 26 Sepember 2024, with positions ranging from front-line customer-facing roles to support roles in backroom departments, as well as management or specialised technical roles.
The roles will be primarily in food service, rooms and housekeeping, which makes up about 80% of the vacancies.
The aim of these sessions is to address the employment needs of the above-mentioned operations in Macau’s gaming sector. Key dates for the sessions will be: 12 September for Wynn Macau; 13 September for Galaxy Macau, 19 September for Sands China and SJM, 26 September for MGM China and 29 September for Melco Macau.
Earlier, lawmakers in Macau also advocated for protecting the welfare of gaming-sector employees.
On a separate note, the Philippines’ Department of Labour and Employment (DOLE) has been finalising a job fair for local former POGO employees.
The aim here is to help them seek new employment after the nationwide POGO ban was announced and enforced.
“It's still being firmed up and finalised. Profiling of the affected workers is expected to be completed within the week. Will provide you details once finalised,” said Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma.
The job fair should be helpful for the local former POGO employees, as all POGO work permits will expire by the end of 2024.
