Following the passing of Galaxy Entertainment Group Ex-Chairman Dr. Lui Che Woo, the operator has appointed a new Chairman in Francis Lui Yiu Tung, who will step into his new role with immediate effect.

Moving into this new role, Lui brings with him a wealth of experience from his career with Galaxy Entertainment, which began in 1979. After gaining his bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Berkeley in California, Lui has been with the group for 45 years, receiving a promotion to the position of Executive Director at Galaxy Entertainment in 1987. Lui had held this position for 38 years prior to his recent appointment.

Alongside his work with Galaxy Entertainment, Lui also holds a number of additional positions, including as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and as Vice Chair of the Council of Macau Institute for Tourism Studies. Now, following the peaceful passing of his predecessor at the age of 95, Lui  will assume the role as Chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group.

Good to know: Last month, Galaxy Entertainment posted a year-on-year revenue rise for Q3 2024; however, revenue did decline quarter-on-quarter

Commenting on the news, Lui said: “I am truly grateful for the guidance and support of Dr. Lui over the years. I will continue to work closely with the Board and all of our team members to realise Dr. Lui’s vision for GEG becoming the world’s leading integrated tourism and leisure company, and to contribute to the development of the country.”

This report was closely followed by Macau’s November report, which revealed a GGR rise of 14.9%. Additionally, a flurry of new governmental appointments were also made by Macau’s new Chief Executive earlier this month.
