Key points:

- The KSA has cracked down on an individual organising and advertising bingo without a licence

- If the individual continues, they will face penalties up to €131,250 ($136,511)

- Tickets were advertised and sold on Facebook

The Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), the Dutch Gaming Regulator, has sanctioned an organiser in the Netherlands for organising and advertising illegal games of bingo.

While the identity of the individual hasn’t been made public yet, they oeprated a Facebook page called ‘Baco’s zaalbingo’ where they were caught selling tickets for €25 and bingo booklets for €62.50.

Many of these games were held via livestream on the Facebook page.

Not only did the organiser not hold a licence, but the prizes were “far above the maximum allowed by the law.”

According to the KSA, bingo prizes cannot be worth more than €400 each and €1,550 in total.

Good to know: Bingo games can only be organised by associations that have existed for at least three years, and although the organiser admitted on Facebook that he’s been doing this since 2022, he is not licensed

He is also not acting on behalf of any charities, as the proceeds benefit him directly.

If he continues to breach this order, he may face penalties of €13,125 per bingo with a maximum of €131,250.

Under the current advertising ban for illegal gambling, he may also be subject to penalties of €6,562.50 per advertisement with a maximum of €65,625.

Only yesterday, the KSA fined Alimaniere €1.1m for illegal online gambling operations due to several aggravating factors.
