- The operator has now come under scrutiny about whether it’s licensed by anyone at all

Birmingham City FC’s official Asian betting partner, God55, has come under scrutiny for being a potentially unlicensed casino.

It was only announced last week on 27 March that God55 was to be the club’s official Asian betting partner. However, the news article on the Birmingham City FC’s website has since been removed.

According to our coverage, a spokesperson for Birmingham City FC added: "We’re thrilled to welcome God55 to the Birmingham City family as our official Asian betting partner.

“This partnership highlights the club’s growing international appeal and provides an opportunity to further engage with our supporters in Asia. We look forward to working closely with God55 to achieve great things together."

As part of this deal, God55 launched a film to celebrate the “collaboration between the two brands”.

However, yesterday, the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) revealed that it was not connected with God55 in any way and that 17 of God55’s URLS were completely unauthorised.

Despite God55 using the MGA logo on its websites, the company did not hold a licence with the authority and was using “false and misleading” methods to make itself seem authentic.

God55 also featured logos from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), although both the PAGCOR and MGA logos were outdated and did not link to any further information regarding any possible licences.

Online casinos have to display any licences clearly for any players or businesses to see and are usually found in the footer of the website pages, which begs the question, how did Birmingham City FC miss this?

A basic check into the God55 online casino would’ve revealed that the company is not licensed with the regulators that it claims to be with.

While Gambling Insider has reached out to Birmingham City FC for comment, we are yet to hear anything back. We will update this article as soon as we do.
