Philippine gaming industry reaches Php372.33bn revenue for 2024

Key points:

– The Philippine gaming sector reached Php372.33bn ($6.64bn) in gross gaming revenue (GGR) for 2024, reflecting a 30.52% increase from 2023

– Land-based casinos and the E-Games/E-Bingo segment were the largest contributors, with offshore gaming excluded following the 2024 ban

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) reported that the country’s gaming industry attained Php372.33bin gross gaming revenue (GGR) for 2024. This marks an increase of 30.52% from Php285.27bn in 2023. The reported figures exclude revenue from offshore gaming, which was banned at the end of 2024.

Land-based casinos remained the largest source of GGR, generating Php201.83bn, or 54.20% of the total. The E-Games and E-Bingo segment saw a substantial increase, with revenues growing by 165.66% to Php154.51bn, now accounting for 41.51% of the total GGR.

PAGCOR’s overall revenues also increased by 40.74%, rising from Php79.37bn in 2023 to Php111.71bn in 2024. Contributions to social programmes rose by 37.61% to Php68.20bn, and net income grew by 146%, reaching Php16.76bn. Cash dividends of Php8.45bn were remitted to the national government.

Good to know: The increase in GGR is expected to impact the broader economy, including further investments, job creation and more funding opportunities for public programmes

Alejandro H. Tengco, PAGCOR Chairman and CEO, stated: “This GGR feat underscores the crucial role of licensed casinos in sustaining the growth momentum of the Philippine gaming sector.

“They remain as our biggest revenue drivers and a major source of government funding for socio-civic programs.

“With a bigger GGR base, we’re looking at a stronger multiplier effect – more jobs, more investments, and more public funds for social programs.

“The Philippine gaming industry isn’t just growing – it’s evolving, and with it comes greater responsibility and opportunity.”
