Betano has officially unveiled a newly refurbished public basketball court in Leblon, Rio de Janeiro, with NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo in attendance to inaugurate the space.
The court renovation is part of Betano’s wider efforts to support sports infrastructure and accessibility across key markets.
As Betano’s global ambassador, Antetokounmpo participated in the 9 June opening ceremony, where he signed the court, unveiled a commemorative plaque and witnessed the first game on the new surface, played by community group ‘The Payback.’
Developed by ALOB Sports and executed by Hoopers, the project involved extensive repairs to the playing surface and installation of modern sporting features.
Antetokounmpo, who has served as a Betano ambassador since 2023, emphasised the significance of public sports facilities in his remarks. The NBA player noted that his basketball journey began on public courts and expressed hopes that the renovated facility would inspire future talent development in the local community.
Good to know: The court, located at Praça Claudio Coutinho, was fully renovated to improve safety and durability and now features a mural of Antetokounmpo by Brazilian artist Neto 78
Guilherme Figueiredo, Country Manager of Betano in Brazil, also commented on the intention behind the new court, stating: “We want to be a major supporter of national sports, whether through sponsorships, the construction of public sports spaces, or social transformation initiatives through sport.”
This basketball court project continues Betano's recent expansion in sports partnerships. In May 2025, the operator signed a three-year deal with Danish Superliga team Brøndby IF, marking its debut in the Danish sporting market and first partnership in Scandinavia.
The agreement made Betano the main partner and shirt sponsor for Brøndby IF through summer 2028.
