Esportes Gaming Brasil has named Ana Carolina Luna Maçães as its new Compliance Manager.

Maçães joins from NSX Brasil and brings experience in financial crime prevention, corporate ethics and responsible gambling.

She holds a CPC-A certification from the Legal, Ethics & Compliance (LEC) institute and will oversee the company’s compliance across domestic and international markets.

Maçães said: “Esportes Gaming Brasil has set a high standard in Brazil’s betting market with its total commitment to integrity, governance and responsible gaming. It’s a privilege to join this exceptional team as Compliance Manager. My role is to reinforce our culture of compliance, navigating us through complex regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions with as little friction as possible.”

Good to know: Brazil’s regulated betting framework was expanded in 2024 to include esports titles such as Counter-Strike and Valorant, prompting operators to update compliance systems and internal controls

The appointment follows that of Hugo Baungartner in May, who joined as Executive Director of Institutional Relations and Strategic Partnerships.

Baungartner’s responsibilities include working with bodies such as the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA/MF), the Federal Revenue Service and the Central Bank, in addition to overseeing strategic partnerships and M&A activity.

Esportes Gaming Brasil operates under the SPA/MF licensing regime and owns the Onabet and Esportes da Sorte brands. The group has introduced a number of responsible gambling initiatives, including self-exclusion tools, behaviour monitoring and an addiction support network.

CEO Darwin Filho commented: “It’s more than just complying with and supporting regulations. Esportes Gaming Brasil has been actively leading the process of maturing the betting sector in the country. Our commitment to governance has been an essential part of our business model since the beginning. The arrival of Ana Carolina represents a strategic reinforcement, further strengthening the culture of compliance that has always guided the company.”
