Online gambling link briefly disrupts Indonesian Court website, now restored

Key points:

– An online gambling site ad briefly appeared via Google search for Praya District Court’s SIPP

– Court says its internal systems were not hacked

– The site has returned to normal, but public trust concerns linger

As reported by Antara News, the official case tracking website of the Praya District Court in Central Lombok, Indonesia, has resumed normal operations.

This follows a brief incident where a Google search result displayed an online gambling advertisement linked to the court’s domain.

Ikhsan Suhariadi, the court’s Public Information Officer, confirmed on Tuesday that the Sistem Informasi Penelusuran Perkara (SIPP) website had returned to regular service. The disruption, which went viral on social media on the night of 9 June, prompted immediate internal checks.

According to Suhariadi, the incident was not the result of a direct cyberattack. Instead, the court’s IT team found that the ad was embedded through external redirection during a Google search and not through a breach of the domain itself. “When accessed directly through the domain, the website remained intact and unaffected,” he said.

Good to know: The SIPP platform is used for providing public access to case schedules and judicial information, meaning core court services were not technically compromised

IT personnel reportedly resolved the issue overnight by filtering out the offending ad redirect and reaffirming domain integrity. Preventive measures, including continuous monitoring and coordination with technical teams, are being put in place to avoid recurrence.

Despite the swift resolution, Suhariadi acknowledged that such incidents could damage public perception. As of Tuesday morning, the website was fully accessible and operating normally.
