Crown Perth retains casino licence following regulator review
The Western Australian Government has ruled that Crown Perth remains suitable to hold a casino licence, following major operational reforms and investment in responsible gambling.
Key points:
– WA Government confirms Crown Perth’s suitability to operate
– Follows earlier approvals in Melbourne and Sydney in 2024
– Over 340 internal reforms and carded play system to be implemented
Crown Perth has been found suitable to retain its casino licence by the Western Australian Government, marking the final step in a series of state-level reviews across Crown Resorts’ three Australian properties.
The announcement follows a period of operational reform and oversight at Crown Perth, during which the venue undertook a wide-ranging transformation initiative.
According to the company, the programme delivered 342 measures under its Enhanced Perth Remediation Action Plan, with focus areas including financial crime, compliance, governance and responsible gambling.
Crown stated it has invested approximately AU$200m (US$130.5m) in reforms across its business. In line with commitments to player protection, the company will introduce mandatory carded play for all electronic gaming machines at Crown Perth from 1 December 2025. This follows a similar rollout at Crown Melbourne last year.
Last month, Crown Perth partnered with Foodbank Western Australia to supply hot meals across the state, producing 170 litres of soup per week and supporting 890 households daily.

The review’s conclusion brings Crown Perth in line with its sister properties in Melbourne and Sydney, which were also found suitable by regulators earlier in 2024.
During the Western Australia monitorship, Crown Perth submitted over 8,300 documents for evaluation.
Crown Perth CEO Brian Pereira said: “Holding a casino licence means holding a social licence and we have a responsibility to operate with the highest level of integrity every day.”
Crown Resorts CEO Tsai added: “With all three Crown properties now deemed suitable and retaining their casino licences, we are focused on remaining the safest place to game in Australia.”
