Brazil: Betting operators in São Paulo to create new union
A general assembly will formalise the creation of a state-level betting and gaming union in Brazil’s most populous region.
Key points:
– A formal union for sports betting and online gaming operators in São Paulo is set to be created
– The assembly will establish the entity’s legal structure, statute and leadership
– Only companies with proven activity in the state will be eligible to participate
A general assembly in Brazil will establish a new union to represent sports betting and online gaming firms operating in the state of São Paulo.
The Union of Betting Operators and Online Games of the State of São Paulo (Sindbet/SP) will serve as a formal body to coordinate industry engagement with regulatory and government institutions.
To participate, companies must prove they operate in the São Paulo estate and submit required documentation, including corporate registration, proof of legal representation and evidence of their link to the business.
The initiative comes as Brazil’s gambling sector undergoes a process of regulation, expansion and increasing institutional organisation.
The call for the assembly was signed by representatives of Sol Serviços de Intermediação, Betboom and Stake Brazil.
Good to know: Brazilian football clubs have (understandably) voiced opposition to proposed restrictions on betting advertisements, arguing they would harm sponsorship revenues
The creation of Sindibets/SP reflects growing efforts from Brazilian firms to consolidate representation at both state and national level.
The meeting will take place in hybrid format, allowing attendance both in person and online.
On the agenda are the official foundation of the union, approval of its statute, election of its first executive board and fiscal council, besides the definition of its territorial remit.
