The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation has continued its support of President Marcos’ drive to distribute patient transport vehicles (PTVs) to every part of the country.

PAGCOR donates five medical vehicles to the Philippine military

Key points:

– PAGCOR donates a further five patient transport vehicles to government and military units

– The offering is a continuation of its support of the President’s campaign to bring PTVs to every part of the country

– The corporation has donated 40 vehicles to date, which are intended to aid the military’s response to natural disasters and conflict

Five more Patient Transport Vehicles have been voluntarily turned over to military and local government units (LGUs) by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) as part of its socio-civic program.

This material support adds to the 35 already donated by PAGCOR to local government units and frontline agencies nationwide since President ‘Bongbong’ Marcos’ promise to provide all LGUs with PTVs before the end of 2025 was made.

The vehicles are intended to strengthen healthcare delivery in remote and underserved communities across the country.

They will be of particular use in regions that are stricken with the effects of natural disasters or conflict.

When the first vehicle was donated in February, Col. Batalla of the Philippine Military Academy said that: “This will greatly benefit our cadets and personnel who need urgent medical transfers to bigger tertiary hospitals.”

The PTVs come equipped with GPS navigation, an ambulance stretcher, medical oxygen, a wheelchair and a first aid kit.

Good to know: Since 1990, there have been 565 separate instances of what can be classed as ‘natural disasters,’ costing the country $23bn in damages

President Marcos reiterated his commitment to improving the country’s medical response capabilities back in April when he announced: “As a former local government official, I know how important it is to have a vehicle that can be used whenever fellow citizens need to be brought to the hospital.”

PAGCOR is a Government-owned and controlled corporation that was formed under the martial law imposed by Marcos’ father, the former President Marcos, and is supporting the current administration in reaching its targets.

The body regulates and licenses casino operations in the country, with the goal of generating revenue for the government’s socio-civic and national development programs.
