Light & Wonder has confirmed it has been granted a vendor licence by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), the federal regulator responsible for commercial gaming in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The licence permits Light & Wonder to supply its portfolio of land-based electronic gaming machines, table games, utilities and digital iGaming content to licensed operators in the region.

The UAE is preparing to enter the regulated gaming market following the establishment of the GCGRA in 2023.

Matt Wilson, Light & Wonder President and CEO, said: “Securing a license from the GCGRA is an important milestone for Light & Wonder as we enter one of the most anticipated new regulated markets in the world. We’re honoured to be among the first approved suppliers and are committed to bringing our trusted, responsible and player-first approach to the UAE.”

Good to know: Light & Wonder’s Q1 2025 financial results reported revenue growth for the 16th consecutive quarter, with adjusted EBITDA up 11%

In June 2025, Light & Wonder expanded its partnership with BetMGM through the release of The Wizard of Oz – Follow the Yellow Brick Road, the second title in its licensed slot series, which launched in New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ontario.

Earlier this year, the company also finalised its $850m acquisition of Grover Gaming’s charitable gaming assets, adding a new vertical to its cross-platform operations.

Light & Wonder continues to pursue expansion across global regulated markets and currently supplies technology and content to operators in North America, Europe and the Middle East.
