Key points:

– Crown Sydney will host its first First Responder Charity Stair Climb on 28 March 2026

– The event is set to raise funds for mental health charities, including the Black Dog Institute and Fortem Australia

– Participants will climb 29 floors of Crown Sydney

Crown Sydney has announced it will host its inaugural First Responder Charity Stair Climb on 28 March 2026.

The event will see members of the NSW Police, Fire and Rescue NSW, the State Emergency Service and Crown Sydney employees compete in a 29-floor vertical challenge inside the city’s tallest building.

Modelled on the annual Firefighter Stair Climb at Crown Metropol Melbourne – which has raised more than AU$6m ($3.97m) for charity over 12 years – the Sydney edition will raise funds for mental health organisations including the Black Dog Institute and Fortem Australia.

The initiative is being delivered in partnership with the 000 Foundation.

Commenting on the launch of the initiative, 000 Foundation’s Director, Trent Egan, stated: “Launching a First Responders Stair Climb with Crown Sydney is something we are extremely proud of.

“We know firsthand how powerful an event like this is for the entire emergency services community, and it’s exciting to finally bring this climb to New South Wales for the first time.

“This event offers a unique way to celebrate our emergency services personnel who serve our communities every day, while raising vital funds and awareness for mental health.”

Good to know: Firefighters will have the option of completing the climb in full operational gear

Crown Sydney CEO Stanford Le added: “Crown Sydney is proud to host the inaugural First Responders Stair Climb to support and celebrate our frontline heroes and give back to the community.”

The initiative is presented jointly by Crown Resorts and the Crown Resorts Foundation, with recruitment and training programs currently underway ahead of the March 2026 event date.

The charity stair climb announcement follows recent developments for Crown Resorts, including NSW Premier Chris Minns’ confirmation in June that no legislative changes would be made to allow poker machines at the Sydney venue.

Additionally, Crown partnered with Mindway AI last week to integrate GameScanner technology, representing the largest land-based implementation of the AI-powered responsible gaming tool to date.
