AGA launches new responsible sports betting campaign

The American Gaming Association (AGA) has announced the launch of a new public service campaign designed to educate sports fans about responsible gambling.

The ‘Have a Game Plan, Bet Responsibly’ ad campaign will look to educate fans and consumers on how to bet responsibly in sports betting, with the message to be promoted around sports venues.

The campaign is currently live at the Capital One Arena in Washington DC and the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, with the launch into more sports betting markets expected soon.

There are four key responsible sports betting principles the campaign focuses on. These are; sticking to a set budget, keeping it social, being informed about the games you play and playing with regulated operators.

AGA President and CEO, Bill Miller, said: “This is a watershed moment for sports betting in the United States.

“It’s more important than ever that the gaming industry, and our new partners in the sports betting ecosystem, are proactive in equipping patrons with the tools they need to engage in these offers in a responsible manner.”

Since PASPA was overturned in May 2018, sports betting is now legal in 14 states, with six more – and the District of Columbia – set to be live later this year.

It is estimated Americans so far have wagered more than $19bn on sports betting, generating $175m in tax revenue since it became legal.
