Jamul Casino announces return of annual San Diego Poker Classic tournament

Jamul Casino, owned and operated by Jamul Indian Village Development Corporation (JIVDC), has confirmed that its annual San Diego Poker Classic tournament will return for a second year.

The San Diego Poker Classic (SDPC) will start with the Weekend Opener $50k GTD on 10 August, and run through until the $100k GTD Main Event, which ends on 20 August.

A total of 14 distinct events will run during the poker festival, including the $150 buy-in PLON Ladies Event on 12 August, the $150 buy-in Seniors Event on 14 August and the Tag Team $250 buy-in event on 17 August.

There will also be opportunities to satellite into the main event, through two separate tournaments.

John Rochfort, Jamul Casino’s Poker Innovator and Manager, said: “Jamul Casino has a very robust poker program and some of the best facilities in Southern California.

“The San Diego Poker Classic has helped boost the Casino’s popularity and I’m anticipating the upcoming luxury, boutique hotel will kick-up our poker stakes even more.

“Good luck to our aspiring winners!”

Last year, the San Diego Poker Classic Weekend Opener saw a total of 409 total entries, with 54 players making the money.

The Main Event had a total of 330 entries, with 43 players in the money and a total prize pool of $171,600.

The tournament is expected to draw in players from Los Angeles, Riverside, San Diego County and Orange County.

The poker room at the Jamul Casino opened in 2019 and hosts a variety of weekly tournaments alongside its flagship annual events.

Earlier this year, the JIVDC announced it had secured $515m in funding for additional facilities at the Jamul Casino.
