The DSC Casino Night saw representatives and members from both organisations, as well as partnered companies, come together for a sponsored poker game where the proceeds would be donated to a good cause.

The 2. Bundesliga club, Deutscher Sport-Club Arminia Bielefeld (DSC), held a sponsored poker event with its official gambling partner, the Gauselmann Group, with the proceeds going towards charity.

Named the DSC Casino Night, the event was held at Merkur Casino Bad Oeynhausen with over 90 participants, including both former and current DSC players.

Starting off with eight tables, those who were knocked out first were given a tour of the casino, including the roulette and blackjack tables.

David Schnabel, Managing Director of Merkur Spielbanken, said: “As a casino operator and close partner of Arminia, we are very pleased to host the ‘DSC Casino Night’ and to welcome so many partners and sponsors.

“This is something very special and underlines the success of our partnership.”

The winner of the night was Mike Ibsch, a representative of BKK Gildemeister Seidensticker, which is a statutory health insurance fund.

Ibsch received a cheque for €1,905 ($2,019), which represents the year that Arminia was founded.

The profits will be donated to Horizontas, an Erwitt association that provides grief counselling to children, young people and their families.

Rainer Schütte, President of DSC Arminia Bielefeld, said: “The ‘DSC Casino Night’ was a complete success – both in terms of organisation and atmosphere.

“A big thank you goes to the Gauselmann Group, which has been a firm partner of ours for many years.”

Earlier this month, Merkur announced a partnership with Gaming Arts, for access to the North American markets.
