Slough Town FC and Epic Risk Management collaborate to educate schools on gambling harm

In a joint effort to address the issue of gambling-related harm among young people, Slough Town FC Rebels and Epic Risk Management have partnered to introduce an educational programme for secondary schools.

The programme will be designed to raise awareness of the potential risks associated with gambling and encourage responsible gambling practices.

Epic Risk Management is working to minimise gambling harm with operations in 22 countries. The company aims to achieve this by educating individuals about the potential pitfalls and regulations concerning sports betting and gambling activities.

The programme’s core session, lasting approximately one hour, will be led by Scott Davies – Rebels’ First Team Player Manager.

During this session, Davies will share his personal story, illustrating how gambling impacted his life. The session will also include an educational component focused on responsible gambling practices and conclude with information about mental health support.

Davies, with seven years of experience in delivering ‘lived experience’ sessions, has primarily worked with the highest-risk sectors affected by gambling addiction, with schools increasingly impacted due to the changing landscape of online gaming for young people.

To kick off the programme, schools are invited to send a representative to Arbour Park Stadium on 9 November, 2023, where they can observe Davies session.

This collaboration arrives shortly after Epic Risk Management’s continued work with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to provide gambling harm awareness programmes to students at the University of Michigan.

The University of Michigan is just one of the 75 universities that Epic Risk Management and Entain Foundation US partner with, to deliver its gambling harm awareness initiatives.

Furthermore, Epic Risk Management recently signed a two-year partnership with The Hippodrome Casino, planning to launch a pilot staff training programme. The programme includes a series of workshops and group evaluation sessions to train staff in identifying and addressing risks and harm related to gambling. This initiative aims to reduce the risk of gambling harm within the casino setting.
