MGA publishes list of unauthorised URLs and new guidance on licence surrenders
As part of the recent initiative to tighten regulations at the MGA, the Authority has issued two new updates.
The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has released two updates, one with an updated list of unauthorised operators and another with guidance for how licensees can surrender their licence.
Firstly, the MGA announced that: catcasinosx.com, vkgame11.site, ob9sg.com, 20winpkr.com, wuvq4.com, ey6dmx.com:6002, hthbet619.com, w88br.com, w88kub.com, fun-88.in/in and Sbobet.com has no connection to the Authority.
In its statement, the MGA, said: “Any reference to the MGA and/or gaming licence/s said to be issued by the Maltese Authority, as stated by the above websites is false and misleading.
“The MGA would like to remind consumers not to utilise services provided by an entity unless they have ascertained that the entity in question is authorised to provide such services by the MGA.
“The gaming regulatory framework obliges authorised persons to comply with strict legal requirements in the interest of consumers.”
The MGA has a list of licenced operators on its site that is updated regularly.
In addition, the Authority has issued official guidelines on how it expects operators to surrender a licence.
As part of this, operators will be expected to update the MGA with the exact date and time when they have stopped or shall stop accepting new business, the reason why the licence is being surrendered and how the operator will manage player balance and funds-in-play.
As part of this guidance, the MGA explained: “As part of the licence surrender application process, the Licensee must settle any dues to the Authority in terms of the Gaming Licence Fees Regulations and the Gaming Tax Regulations.
“Furthermore, the licensee will also have to undergo a data extraction exercise once the licence surrender review is underway.
“The licensee is required to submit the completed ‘Licence – Licence Surrender’ application via the LRMS, with at least 20 days notice.”
One of the other actions taken by the MGA recently was the Cancellation of Authorisation put in place against AMGO iGaming Malta, on account of three separate breaches of regulation made by the company.
