The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has cancelled the licence of AMGO iGaming Malta, on account of three separate breaches of regulation made by the company.

In a letter published on 31 October 2023, MGA outlines the primary reasons why the iGaming company is having a Cancellation of Authorisation placed against it. Most notable is the company's breach of Regulation 3 (1) (b) of the Gaming Licence Fees Regulations, as AMGO iGaming Malta failed to pay the licensing fee due for the period of 22 November 2022 to 22 November 2023. The total owed, which remains outstanding, is €13,915.12 ($14,728.50).

The second breach of the Gaming Licence Fees regulations, Regulation 3 (1) (a) and Regulation 6, was brought against AMGO iGaming Malta due to a failure to pay the applicable compliance contribution fees due to MGA in an established timeframe.

The third breach brought against AMGO iGaming Malta by the MGA was a breach of Article 38 of the Player Protection Directive. MGA has reason to believe that the company ‘has failed to discharge financial commitments for its operations’, and ‘has failed to meet commitments to players in a timely manner, or the Authority has reason to believe that such failure is imminent.’

This breach also coincides with existing failures previously noted, such as a failure to pay the MGA in a timely manner or comply with one or more applicable obligations from regulators or the law of Malta.

AMGO iGaming is the owner of several gaming brands and has offices in multiple locations globally. The notice will affect the company’s licence in Malta and will force its operations in the region to reconsolidate.
