BC.Game attains licence from Curacao’s new LOK framework

BC.Game has attained a new licence from Curaçao.

The licence complies with the recently launched National Ordinance for Games of Chance (LOK) regulatory framework from Curaçao.

The LOK framework is anticipated to completely replace the original National Ordinance on Offshore Games of Hazard (NOOGH) framework, which has been operated out of Curaçao for many years.

BC.Game CEO Jack Dorsey said: “We are immensely grateful for Curaçao’s robust regulatory framework, which has been pivotal in the gambling industry.

“Obtaining this license is a vital milestone in BC.Game’s ongoing development and our commitment to providing a trustworthy and secure gambling experience.”

As well as introducing new compliance measures, the new LOK framework will introduce a new application process, different fees and expectations for companies, as well as a one-off due diligence fee.

This is part of efforts to repair the reputation Curaçao currently has.

The first reading of the LOK framework was held in the Curaçao parliament towards the end of February this year.

During this, Curaçao Minister of Finance, Javier Silvania, said: “Curaçao, as a small island, has faced significant challenges regarding its reputation in the online gaming industry.

“We have often been portrayed as a hub for criminal activities and money laundering, contributing to a negative image.

“However, this perception is set to change with the LOK.”

This licence will allow BC.Game to continue operating in several global jurisdictions, with the online casino platform known for accepting several cryptocurrencies.

Dorsey continued: “Curacao is an essential first step in our broader global strategy.

“As we continue to accelerate our expansion, expect more exciting developments and good news in the near future.”

The UK-facing branch of BC.Game is licenced by the Gambling Commission under account number 38898.
