The pair’s new Las Vegas hotel conversion project is scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
Key points:
– The W Las Vegas site will join the W Hotels portfolio later this year
– This latest phase of the partnership follows a successful points-based rewards scheme for the members of both companies
MGM Resorts International and Marriot International have announced a new joint project as part of their longstanding partnership, which sees the conversion of the Mandalay Bay Campus into a new property, W Las Vegas.
Following the initial announcement of a long-term licensing agreement penned between the two companies in July 2023, the pair launched the MGM Collection with Marriot Bonvoy in March 2024.
This collaborative effort sees a number of benefits granted to members of both respective organisations. Now, MGM Resorts and Marriot International have confirmed plans to convert a long-standing Vegas property into the new W Hotels brand within the Marriot Bonvoy.
The conversion of the former Mandalay Bay property into the new W Las Vegas is set for completion by the end of the calendar year, marking the latest phase of collaboration between the two organisations in the US market.
This news follows the announcement of a successful Q2 for MGM Resorts International which saw the company generate a revenue figure of $4.33bn. More recently, MGM Resorts signed a new solar agreement as part of its new renewable energy commitment.
Good to know: This new location means there are now 12 MGM Collection with Marriot Bonvoy destinations on the Las Vegas Strip
Speaking on the latest news, President of MGM Resorts Operations, Steve Zanella, said: “Our relationship with Marriott has far exceeded our expectations, demonstrating the power of its brand portfolio and the strength of their distribution channels. W Las Vegas, the latest hotel to come to life as part of our collaboration, will allow our guests to access a new luxury lifestyle experience recognised worldwide for its distinct personality, dynamic programming and elevated service culture.”
For Marriot International, the new announcement comes less than a month after the signing of a new partnership between itself and Sands China for the Londoner Grand Hotel relaunch.
Leeny Oberg, Marriott International CFO and EVP, Development, also commented on the latest development: “We’re thrilled to continue working with MGM to bring W Las Vegas to the legendary Las Vegas Strip. This agreement is a pivotal moment in our collaboration, which continues to expand hospitality and entertainment offerings for guests.
