Eric Konings stepping down as Acting Director of NOGA

Key points:

– He has held the interim role since July 2024

– This comes during a “period of strategic reorientation”

The Dutch Online Gambling Association (NOGA) has announced that its Acting Director Eric Konings will not be extending his time in the role.

Konings took up the role in July of last year, doing so to step in for Peter-Paul de Goeij, who left after five years as NOGA Director.

The departing Acting Director has been with the trade association for seven years, having first joined as the Chair in January 2018, before becoming a Policy Advisor four years later, and then assuming the Acting Director role in July 2024.

NOGA Vice-Chair Sanna van Doorn said: “We are very grateful to Eric for his efforts over the past seven years, in the capacity of chairman, policy advisor and interim director. His involvement and expertise in this challenging sector were of great value.

“Eric played an important role in the establishment of NOGA and in representing the interests of its members over the years. On behalf of the board and our members, I would like to thank him and wish Eric all the best in his future projects and ambitions.”

Good to know: The Dutch Gambling Authority (KSA) this week published a study into markers of risky gambling behaviour

Konings himself added: “I have enjoyed fulfilling the role of interim director at NOGA during this important period of strategic reorientation. Now that this reorientation is progressing steadily, I have decided not to extend my agreement.

“I am proud of what we have achieved together and will continue to work for NOGA’s objectives until my last day. For now, I would like to thank the board for the trust they have placed in me.”
