– The funding will be used to support Ripples of Compassion in providing its free services

Merkur Casino has announced a donation of £2,205 ($2,851) to Bristol-based charity – Ripples of Compassion.

The charity was founded in 2018 by Fiona Corless, in memory of her daughter, Ripley Olive Corless. Ripley sadly lost her battle with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia at just two years of age.

The charity aims to ensure that all parents, families and carers that have a child with a terminal illness, or bereavement, can gain access to appropriate social, emotional and mental health support at the time they most need it.

The past five years have witnessed a 226% increase in demand for the charity’s services, and costs have also increased due to the rising cost of living expenses.

Good to know: Merkur’s donation will enable Ripples of Compassion to purchase 350 boxes for activity parcels and self-care boxes, 40 books to support up to two bereavement libraries, and up to 10 keepsakes for families who have sadly lost a child

The funding will be essential to support Ripples of Compassion to continue providing its free services to hospitals, hospices, and charities in supporting children, parents and siblings during difficult times.

Fiona Corless, founder and chair of Ripples of Compassion, said: “We are very thankful for Merkur’s donation. The demand for our services continues to grow, and every contribution helps us extend our support to more families in need. Thanks to Merkur, we can bring comfort to those facing the hardest moments of their lives

“The funding will allow us to create more self-care boxes, bereavement libraries and keepsakes – each one bringing a little light to families during their darkest times. Every item we provide is a tangible reminder that they are not alone, that people care, and that their loved ones will always be remembered. The impact of this donation will be felt by so many families, helping them process their grief and find moments of solace amidst their pain.”
