Hyderabad police have busted an organised online betting network that ran a digital Satta racket targeting unsuspecting punters through fake social media accounts.
The arrests were made during a joint operation by the Commissioner’s Task Force (Central Zone) and Amberpet Police, as reported by The Hans India.
Acting on a tip-off, officers raided a rented apartment in Bathakammakunta, Bagh Amberpet, and arrested six individuals aged between 23 and 30. Those detained include Voddepelli Naveen, a carpenter, along with Pudari Sai Kiran, Soma Mahender, Bingi Sai Kiran, Bingi Avinash and Sana Sai Preetham.
The gang had set up their base of operations two months prior, paying Rs 14,000 a month in rent. From there, they created several fake Facebook accounts using unverified numbers.

Punters were charged registration fees between Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000 for “number predictions”. The group also made promotional videos in which one of them posed as a winner to draw in more victims. Payment was collected via QR codes, UPI apps and mobile transfers.
Authorities revealed that game results were rigged, ensuring losses for players once they committed larger amounts. Police confiscated Rs 79,000 in bank balances, 17 mobile phones, a laptop, vehicles and other items linked to the scam, with a total value of around Rs 20 lakh. All suspects and seized property have been handed over to Amberpet Police for further investigation.
