Slots enter top 10 for most hours watched on Twitch
Slots have entered the top 10 list for categories with the most hours watched on Twitch, as recorded in the State of the Stream for May 2022.
Slots have been in the top 15 for hours watched every month this year, but May is the first month that they have made it into the top 10.
The State of the Stream shares the latest streaming data around platforms, content creators, and related trends. The latest report was published by StreamElements, based on data from Rainmaker.gg.
Slots ranked ninth in May’s list with 39 million hours watched, with streamer Trainwreckstv leading the way, dedicating 300 hours to streaming it.
Notably, slots have now overtaken the hugely popular Call of Duty: Warzone, which had 33 million hours watched in May. Just Chatting sits top of the list with 271 million hours watched, followed by League of Legends and Grand Theft Auto V with 156 million and 120 million respectively.
Also in the top 10 were Valorant, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Apex Legends, Fortnite, and Dota 2.
Gambling on Twitch has not been short of controversy, with popular streamer Pokimane speaking out against content creators such as Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel. Moreover, a petition was recently launched to ban gambling on the platform.
For Twitch streaming in general, viewership is now back on the rise, following a steady decline during the first quarter of 2022 when society began to gradually open back up amid the pandemic.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in particular – which climbed to fifth in the list for May – managed to increase its hours watched by 60% thanks to the PGL Major Antwerp.
