Users were also invited to participate in a play-to-enter giveaway to show their support for the ASPCA.
Titled Paws for the Cause, this event was intended to offer players a chance to “express their enthusiasm for helping the ASPCA” and to learn about the organisation’s work.
“We are committed to charitable outreach as a principle, and we seek to support organisations that not only resonate with us but with our players as well,” said In Keuk Kim, DoubleDown’s CEO.
“Players have expressed appreciation in past years when we partnered with various animal organisations, making it clear that our fans feel as strongly as we do about animal welfare.”
Matthew Carroll, Senior Manager, ASPCA Cause Partnerships & Events, thanked DoubleDown for its donation, commenting: “We are thankful for DoubleDown’s support of animal welfare.
“This donation will go a long way in helping animals in need across the country, and we appreciate DoubleDown and their players’ commitments to the welfare and safety of animals.”
This charitable endeavour will see DoubleDown end the week on a high after it began on a less positive note.
On 29 August, the company announced an “agreement in principle” to settle a lawsuit, an agreement that will see it contribute to a $415m fund. However, DoubleDown will likely be happy to put this matter to rest.
Meanwhile, earlier in August, DoubleDown recorded a 14% revenue drop for Q2, which in turn contributed to an over $30m net loss.
