Yggdrasil names James Curwen as new CEO, succeeding Björn Krantz

James Curwen has been named the new CEO of Yggdrasil, starting on 1 October.

Curwen, who is now the Chief Online Officer of OPAP, the Greek Operator, will take over this executive post when Björn Krantz steps down as CEO.

Until his departure at the end of September, Krantz will keep leading the business and ensuring an easy transition.

Krantz said: “Since day one, my work with Yggdrasil has been focused on transformation and as the company now enters the next phase of its global developments, it’s time for me to hand over the reins.

“James Curwen is an industry veteran; he will bring invaluable experience and leadership to the company as it enters the next phase of driving sustainable, profitable growth. It’s his time to lead.”

Itai Frieberger, Yggdrasil’s Chairman of the Board, said: “The Board is thrilled to announce that James Curwen has agreed to join us as the new CEO of Yggdrasil. We believe he possesses the skills and experience to elevate the business to new heights.

“On behalf of the Board, I want to express our gratitude to Bjorn for his hard work and dedication over the last four years at Yggdrasil.”

Boomerang Games‘ Going Wild in Vegas WildFight recently featured Yggdrasil’s collaboration with ReelPlay and Boomerang for a sin-city experience.

The WildFight mechanism from Yggdrasil is used for the first time in a YG Masters game, adding a fresh twist to the gameplay.

Meanwhile, in June, Mark McGinley was named the Chief Gaming Officer of Yggdrasil. McGinley has over 25 years of expertise in both B2C and B2B gaming.

Krantz has been a regular guest on the GI Huddle.
