Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) have confirmed that Full Tilt Poker have paid their outstanding licence fees.
The online operators informed the AGCC at a recent public hearing that they had withheld £250,000 worth of payments because they were already aware their license was going to be revoked, meaning they saw little point in paying for a license that essentially didn’t exist.
Full Tilt also revealed at the hearing that the money could be paid “within seven days”, should there still be a chance of the company retaining their licence come the conclusion of the hearing, which was later adjourned until a date no later than 15 September following a request from Full Tilt’s legal representatives. The AGCC felt an adjournment was in the best interests of Full Tilt customers as it would allow the company to pursue commercial discussions relating to the acquisition of their European activities. The hearing had been called to discuss the findings of an AGCC investigation into player protection that had let to the suspending of Full Tilt’s Alderney license.
Confirming that the money had been paid, an AGCC statement read: “The recent payment of overdue licence fees by FTP is also in players’ best interests since it allows commercial negotiations to take place that might result in a successful refinancing deal.”
