Caesars has expanded on its partnership with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians to bring mobile sports betting to the state of North Carolina. The launch is expected to follow the legalisation of sports betting in the Old North State, which is scheduled for 11 March.

Currently, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Tribal Casino Gaming Enterprise holds a mobile sports betting market licence. Through the partnership, players in the state will have access to the Caesars Sportsbook. However, this is still subject to regulatory approvals.

The build-up to the launch of sports betting in North Carolina has increased since its approval back in November. However, there was some dampening on the mood, when it was found that the legalisation would take place after the Super Bowl weekend

While sports betting is set to launch on 11 March, North Carolina residents will be able to sign up and make deposits earlier, beginning 1 March, via the Caesars Sportsbook app.

Previous collaborations between the two bodies include the addition of Caesars Sportsbooks at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort and Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel. The extended deal between the two businesses gives Caesars exclusive rights to operating mobile sports wagering on Eastern Band of Cherokee tribal lands in western North Carolina, as well as at the two aforementioned casinos.

On the extended partnership and upcoming launch, Caesars Digital President Eric Hession said: “Our relationship with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians has spanned more than two decades. Expanding this longstanding partnership allows us to build on the premier sports wagering experience enjoyed at our in-person sportsbooks.”

Principal Chief of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Michell Hicks added that the tribal enterprise was “excited” about the venture, stating: “We look forward to the continued opportunities that will benefit the future of our membership.”
