Svenska Spel releases 2023 annual report

Svenska Spel has released its annual report for the year 2023, revealing insights into its performance amidst challenging external conditions.
The report highlights a year marked by significant uncertainty in the global landscape and the economy, leading to a decrease in turnover in the Swedish gambling market for the first time since the reregulation in 2019.
Despite these tough conditions, Svenska Spel managed to maintain stability and deliver positive outcomes.
Throughout the year, the company introduced new gaming experiences to its customers while also focusing on trying to enhance sustainable gaming practices and fostering a positive employee experience.
Erik Strand, the President and CEO of Svenska Spel, commented: “The Svenska Spel Group made a stable result in 2023.
“We had growth in two out of three business areas and we reached an operating margin of 29 percent. This is despite Casino Cosmopol’s extensive challenges and major restructuring.”
2023 proved to be a busy year for Svenska Spel, and one that ushered in a number of major changes.
At the back end of the year, for example, the company announced that it had appointed Anna Johnson as its new President and CEO – a change that was stated to come into effect no later than June 2024.
With regard to Johnson’s appointment, Erik Strand, Chairman of the Board of Svenska Spel, stated: “Her drive and curiosity are excellent qualities for the task of leading Svenska Spel.
“We have implemented significant changes in recent years and are today well equipped to offer sustainable gaming experiences that contribute to a better Sweden.”
