Hard Rock International has announced that the grand opening of Hard Rock Casino Rockford's permanent facility is scheduled for Thursday, 29 August 2024, pending regulatory approval.

The opening event will feature a Guitar Smash ceremony, with doors opening to the public at approximately 3pm.

Jon Lucas, Hard Rock International COO, said: “The economic impact of this casino will provide hundreds of new jobs and boost the entertainment options for anyone living near or visiting Rockford. We are thrilled to welcome this new property to our global portfolio of over 300 Hard Rock venues.”

The new casino spans more than 175,000 square feet and includes nearly 1,300 slot machines, 50 live table games, a poker room, a sportsbook, six restaurants and a Rock Shop.

The Hard Rock Live entertainment venue, part of the new facility, covers 23,000 square feet and can accommodate up to 2,000 guests for various events.

Geno Iafrate, Hard Rock Casino Rockford President, added: "It’s been 30 years in the making for Rockford and the wait is over. We are excited to welcome guests to our house to showcase and expand the legendary Hard Rock brand.”

Construction of the Hard Rock Casino Rockford began in September 2022. The project, costing approximately $310m, is situated on a 25-acre site in Rockford’s East State Street corridor. The construction required 1,200 union construction workers and is expected to generate significant local income and create thousands of jobs.

In May 2024, Hard Rock International denied any involvement in a proposed bid for Star Entertainment Group. The company clarified that it has not authorised any discussions or negotiations regarding Star Entertainment or the use of the Hard Rock brand in connection with such a proposal.

This statement came after Star Entertainment faced internal changes and investigations by the NSW Independent Casino Commission.
