Esports provider Abios has appointed a new Head of Odds Operations, Rasmus Schmidt Christensen, who joins the company from Danish operator Danske Spil.

After holding his previous role with Danske Spil for eight years, Schmidt Christensen began his career at the betting operator as a sports trader, gradually rising to the role of Esports Product Specialist. Now, he will need to utlise his expertise within the online sports betting sector in his newly appointed role with Abios.

The role of Head of Odds Operations is newly created and will call on Schmidt Christensen’s experience of working in customer-focused teams to integrate new esports strategies.

Speaking on his new appointment, Schmidt Christensen said: “Having worked in esports for years, I’m thrilled to join the Abios team. As they’re building new and exciting products on top of best-in-class data and modelling, Abios is at a very exciting growth stage.”

This point was built upon by Anton Janér, Managing Director of Abios, who said: “Esports is a fast-growing segment within online sports betting. For sportsbooks to stay competitive in the area, working with people who truly understand esports is paramount.

“At Abios, we’ve historically been in the fortunate position to attract people with strong esports expertise. Rasmus is no different, having spent significant time at Danske Spil improving their esports vertical. We’re thrilled to have him on board and look forward to seeing him taking our offering to the next level.”

Janér was appointed as Managing Director last month – since, the company has partnered with Rei do Pitaco to provide fantasy esoccer solutions for the Brazilian fantasy sports operator.
