Betsson Group has confirmed that it is set to discontinue its B2C operations in the US at the end of September 2024.
Initially, the operator launched its mobile sportsbook app in the US in the state of Colorado under the Betsafe brand, in partnership with Dostal Alley Casino. But, now is set to exit the region.
At the time of launch, a statement from Betsson called the sportsbook app “an important component of the company’s B2B strategy in the country,” with a statement from the company today further underlining how the launch was mainly done to display its sportsbook for B2B purposes.
Despite this news, Betsson still holds a presence in North America after it launched Betsafe in the Canadian province of Ontario in February last year with a range of B2C offerings such as sports betting and an online casino.
A spokesperson of Betsson Group said: “Betsson has decided to discontinue its B2C operations in Colorado (USA) at the end of September 2024. So, for the foreseeable future, we will not have any B2C offering in the US.
“As communicated initially, our B2C operations in Colorado served primarily to display our sportsbook for B2B purposes and to provide us with valuable first-hand insights into the dynamics of the US online sports betting market.”
In other company news, Betsson has agreed to a multi-year global betting sponsorship with Premier Padel, with a focus on enhancing the fan experience at the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour.
