Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and leader of the Bhumjaithai Party in Thailand, voiced his support for entertainment complex policies in the nation.
According to Thai news media, Charnvirakul made the statement while addressing media queries regarding the future of cannabis policies and entertainment complex development under the new government.
In Charnvirakul’s statement, his reason for the support was that the projects would attract tourists, generate revenue and create employment. He stressed that the Bhumjaithai Party was open to supporting projects and development that benefit the public, provided that they aligned with legal and moral standards and contributed positively to the economy.
Charnvirakul also acknowledged that it would be necessary to amend existing laws related to entertainment complexes in this case. When asked about his change in opinion, Charnvirakul said that the Bhumjaithai Party’s stance “remained on ensuring that any policy introduced benefitted Thailand’s economy and adhered to ethical norms.”
Anutin Charnvirakul and the Bhumjaithai Party had been staunch opposition against the legalisation of gambling, especially during former PM Thavasin’s term when the previous government was pushing for the ‘Casino Bill’ to be passed.
Just last week, Thailand’s Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat announced that the current government would proceed with the proposed entertainment complex project after the conclusion of a public hearing, with an 80% agreement from the attendees.
