Key points:

- The partnership extends until 2030, focusing on unified pool betting operations

- Liquidity contributions include all Jockey Club racecourses and large independent venues

- World Pool initiatives have contributed over £50m to British and Irish racecourses since 2019

Britbet Racing, a collaboration of 55 British racecourses, has announced an extension of its partnership with the UK Tote Group, aimed at strengthening pool betting services.

The renewed agreement, set to commence in November 2025 and run through October 2030, builds on the existing collaboration established in 2018.

Under the agreement, Britbet will continue managing on-course services while the Tote oversees pooled operations. This integrated approach unifies liquidity from most Britbet partner racecourses, including major venues such as those under the Jockey Club and large independent tracks.

Good to know: While Britbet’s agreement with the UK Tote Group is firmly in place, discussions with Arena Racing Company about potential inclusion in the partnership framework are ongoing

The partnership has facilitated innovations such as the Tote Guarantee, introduced in 2020, which ensures competitive pricing on win bets. These developments have driven significant growth in the sector, with Britbet’s on-course turnover reaching £72m ($88m) in 2024, a 26% increase from its launch year.

International collaboration reportedly remains a key component, with the World Pool initiative playing a critical role in generating revenue. By pooling resources from global betting markets for high-profile events, the World Pool has contributed over £50m to British and Irish racecourses since its inception in 2019.

Nigel Roddis, Managing Director of Britbet, said: “The delivery of a daily pool betting service ranges from 500+ staff on each day of the Cheltenham Festival, through to meetings where everyone knows each other on a weekday Winter evening.”

This renewed partnership follows recent agreements in horseracing like the 1/ST and Goodwood Racecourse initiative. These efforts aim to enhance liquidity, improve fan engagement and generate additional revenue streams for the sport.
