Aussie Millions returns to Crown Melbourne
Aussie Millions Poker Championship will return to Crown Melbourne next year for the first time since the event was discontinued in 2020.
Key points:
– Aussie Millions Poker Championship to return to Crown Melbourne in April 2026
– 18 different tournaments with buy-ins ranging from AU$1,500 (US$977) to AU$25,000
– Competition has been absent since 2020 and will have an estimated prize pot of AU$14m
Rumours have swirled for months that the Aussie Millions Poker Championship might be returning after nearly six years away.
Last seen in 2020, the poker tournament hosted by Crown Melbourne has been a staple of the circuit in the past and next year it will be again.
From 24 April to 10 May 2026, thousands of poker players will once more descend on the Australian resort to pit themselves against each other and compete for prizes big and small.
The announcement comes after Ed Domingo stepped into the role of CEO at Crown Melbourne in March this year, replacing Mike Vollert.
Good to know: Crown Melbourne is the state’s largest single-site employer and the largest employer of hospitality staff
Shortly following Domingo’s appointment, the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC) rewarded reforms across the entire Crown Resorts portfolio with the renewal of the brand’s licences.
It had been under scrutiny for its anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism practices, which were deemed poor enough to fine the company AU$450m (US$293m).
The full tournament schedule is yet to be released, but as excitement around the event gathers steam, Crown Resorts will hope that the return of such an event will fuel positive fortunes ahead.
Domingo said: “We are thrilled to be welcoming Aussie Millions back to Crown Melbourne after six years and reestablishing the tournament as a must-visit on the international calendar for amateurs and elite competitors alike.”
Amateur and lower-stakes players will be able to take their places among the 18 different tournaments taking place.
The overall prize pool is estimated as being somewhere north of AU$14m, and while buy-ins are anywhere up to AU$25,000, the lower-end permits entry for AU$1,500.
The star of the show will be the Aussie Millions ‘Main Event’ featuring a buy-in of AU$10,600.
