UK, Spain and Brazil account for 67.9% of Club World Cup action for bet365

Bet365 has postively reviewed its betting figures from the FIFA Club World Cup and shared its insights.

UK, Spain and Brazil account for 67.9% of Club World Cup action for bet365

Key points:

– 67.9% of betting slips came from the UK, Spain and Brazil

– There was a 21.6% decline in betting stakes for the final compared to the UEFA Champions League Final

– Matches featuring Brazilian teams made up five of the top 10 fixtures for money staked

After initial uncertainty around how the FIFA Club World Cup would be received by bettors, bet365 is satisfied that the results have been largely positive.

The sports betting operator celebrated a number of occasions in which the underdogs triumphed, scuppering players with potentially lucrative Bet Builders and accumulators.

Trading Expert Steve Freeth said: “The biggest surprise was Boca Juniors, priced at 1/100, failing to beat Auckland which was obviously great for us on Bet Builders and accumulators. Our best result in the group stages was the 1-1 between 2/5 Real Madrid and Al Hilal.”

The majority of betting slips (67.9%) came in from the UK, Spain and Brazil, and it was a match featuring a Brazilian club that took the title of most money staked.

That was the Round of 16 tie between Flamengo and Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich, while fellow Brazilian outfit, Palmeiras, appeared twice in the top ten fixtures despite progressing no further than the Quarter-Final.

Overall, matches featuring Brazilian sides cropped up five times in the top ten fixtures for money bet.

Good to know: Football fans across the UK preferred the home nations’ clash at the Women’s Euro 2025 to the Club World Cup Final, with viewing figures averaging out as double for the England and Wales tie

One area identified as being costly to bet365 was substitutions. The operator ran a promotion that stipulated if a player you had a bet on was taken off, the wager would transfer to the replacement.

Jamal Musiala swapping in for Harry Kane, who was ‘Super Boosted’ to score two or more and scoring a hat-trick against Auckland was the biggest individual player pay-out.

Cole Palmer’s performance in the final is cited as saving the operator another big pay-out, due to odds-on favourite for the Golden Ball, Vitinha, being pipped to the gong.

The final didn’t come close to toppling the betting stakes of the UEFA Champions League Final, but considering the uncertainty around this newcomer to the football calendar, a decrease of 21.6% isn’t as bad as it could have been according to the operator.

Bet365 expressed this optimism in the report’s summarising notes: “Given the time zone difference and the fact it was the first time the tournament had been played, this was not a disappointing outcome.”
