The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) is hiring an Executive Officer to support its regulatory and operational functions. The GRAI is forming a panel of Executive Officers to support the Authority’s critical work in regulating the gambling sector.

The successful applicant will contribute to the fledgling GRAI’s ongoing establishment and operational developments.

This is a first-level management position supporting the Authority’s work to regulate gambling, protect the public and raise awareness about gambling-related harm. 

Reporting to senior management, the Executive Officer will help to deliver regulatory, operational and strategic functions including policy development, compliance monitoring, research, stakeholder engagement and administrative tasks. 

The role may be based in departments such as Licensing, Consumer Protection or Technology. Duties include drafting reports, managing communications, coordinating projects and handling data.

To be eligible for the Executive Officer role at GRAI, candidates must hold a Level 7 qualification or higher and have at least three years’ experience in a relevant field. 

Applicants must demonstrate key public service competencies across people management, analysis, communication and results delivery. Eligibility restrictions apply to individuals who took early retirement or redundancy from the public service. Candidates must also meet specific citizenship or residency requirements.

This hiring follows GRAI’s recent licence guidelines, which include a 28-day notice for businesses before applications. It also comes after Ireland and Gibraltar signed an MoU to boost cross-border gambling regulation cooperation.
