Key points:
– Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) launches new AI Innovation Group
– Strategy focuses on customer experience, operational efficiency and digital transformation
– Follows GKL’s previous moves with blockchain and autonomous robots
South Korea-based Grand Korea Leisure (GKL), operator of the Seven Luck foreign-player-only casinos, has announced the creation of an Artificial Intelligence Innovation Group. The move signals the company’s full-scale transition into AI-driven operations as part of a wider strategy aligned with the Government’s AI transformation policy.
According to GKL, while digital transformation improves operational efficiency through IT, artificial intelligence can create high-value outcomes through prediction and personalisation. To support this shift, GKL has introduced a new corporate vision titled “Next GKL: The future of casinos leaping forward with AI innovation.”
Under this vision, the company has set out three main objectives: improving the customer experience, enhancing organisational operations and leading industrial digital transformation across the casino and tourism sectors.
The newly formed AI Innovation Group will be tasked with providing customised casino experiences and modernising tourist touchpoints. It will also develop predictive operating systems by integrating AI into enterprise resource planning (ERP) and promote broader public-private cooperation within the tourism industry.
Good to know: GKL is a quasi-public firm under the Korea Tourism Organisation and operates three casinos in Seoul and Busan
The company has already taken several steps toward this goal. In 2023, it introduced the blockchain-based “Seven Luck Plus” app, a first for the industry.
The following year, it rolled out autonomous robots to handle chip and card logistics, and more recently, began developing stablecoin-based payments and voucher services for international tourists.
GKL stated that it aims to become Asia’s leading urban tourism platform company by 2035.
