Coingaming Group CEO: We've upped our communication with VIPs during pandemic

Tim Heath, CEO & founder of Coingaming Group, says the crypto-currency gaming company is increasing its communication with players during the coronavirus pandemic.

While highlighting the unlikely success of table tennis betting in the absence of major sport, Heath also discussed Coingaming’s approach to VIP players.

As regulatory and media scrutiny rises regarding online betting during lockdown and isolation, however, operators must proceed with caution.

But, with online gaming outside of major sport on the rise, through verticals such as casino, poker, virtuals and esports, the Coingaming CEO is looking to build upon his company’s relationship with bettors.

Heath said at the SBC Digital Summit: “We’ve upped our communication with our players and our VIPs. We want to let them know it’s business as usual during this period. We hold tournaments and have a bit of banter with the VIPs.

“With regards to sports, we know there have been less events so we’ve been offering e-FIFA, e-cricket and new markets.

“I never thought in my gambling experience that table tennis would account for 29% of our turnover.

“We want to keep our customers happy and let them know they’re not alone. We’re keeping that communication up; continued empathy between all different partners of the equation.”

Heath also fielded a question from moderator, Scientific Games CEO Jordan Levin, on whether he sees the current pandemic-enforced culture of remote working continuing long term.

But he warned: “I would be wary of working fully remote in the long term as you lose the social interaction, the water cooler moments and the culture of the company.”
