Key points:

–  A Memorandum of Cooperation has been signed between the Greek Gaming Supervision and Control Committee (EEEP) and Health Quality Assurance Organization (OHQA)

– The two will tackle problem gaming through prevention, treatment and support initiatives in Greece

The Greek Gaming Supervision and Control Committee (EEEP) has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Health Quality Assurance Organization (OHQA). With this new partnership, the two aim to tackle problem gaming in the nation through prevention, treatment and support initiatives.

The partnership comes amid concerns regarding problem gaming in Greece. Indeed, this can also be seen reflected in a recent partnership between the Hellenic Gaming Commission and Mindway AI, which saw the launch of Mindway AI’s gamified problem gaming tool, Gamalyze, on the Commission’s site.

It also follows the EEEP’s own intentions to utilise AI in its work, with plans to use AI and big data to establish its Gambling Observatory, which will assess risks, support research, and inform the public on gambling harms.

On the partnership, EEEP President Dimitris Ntzanatos said: “We are delighted that through this coordination, we can leverage expertise and minimise bureaucratic hurdles to deliver effective solutions to a problem with significant societal impacts.”

OHQA CEO Christos Nestoras added: “Our goal is to establish a modern, functional framework rooted in scientific research, respect for citizens and practical support for those in need.”

The Greek market has seen a flurry of activity in recent months, with several operators and suppliers entering the market, or expanding their operations in the market. Earlier in May, Fennica Gaming secured a B2B gaming licence in Greece from the Hellenic Gaming Commission, allowing it to bring its games and gaming service products to the market.

Soft2Bet also made a recent launch in Greece, expanding its presence in Europe with the ElaBet.gr. The launch included Greek-speaking live casino games and games custom-made for the Greek market with a mythological theme. These titles were Gates of Hades, River of Styx and Medusa’s Madness.
