Playtech launches in West Virginia

Playtech has announced its fourth iGaming state launch in the US, having officially entered the West Virginia market.

Rush Street Interactive, DraftKings, BetMGM and more have partnered with Playtech in The Mountain State to gain access to Playtech’s range of casino, RNG and live content.

The supplier’s gaming partnerships expand across the globe. Recent partnerships include a poker deal with Pari Mutuel Urbain in France, Hard Rock Digital in New Jersey and High Roller in Ontario.

On the launch, Playtech VP US Business Operations Jonathan Doubilet said: “Our expansion into this regulated iGaming state reflects our strong strategic focus on delivering engaging, innovative and responsible entertainment to players, while supporting our partners with the latest in gaming technology. Supporting our customers across all regulated states and countries in which they operate is at the heart of what we do.

“The trust and confidence they place in us as an agile and scalable partner is what helps in meeting the demands of the ever-expanding US iGaming industry.”

Currently, iGaming is legal in seven states, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Michigan and Connecticut. In 2024, according to the American Gaming Association, US commercial gaming made $72.04bn, with iGaming accounting for just shy of $8bn.

Indeed, the market has shown itself to be particularly lucrative, with alternatives such as sweepstakes and predictor markets showing an interest in online gaming even where it is not regulated.
