Buzz Bingo has announced a £25m ($34m) investment programme to upgrade its UK estate, beginning with eight club refurbishments in 2025.

The multi-year plan, backed by new funding from Barclays, is aimed at modernising Buzz’s land-based venues with upgraded technology, design and digital infrastructure.

The first revamped site, Sheffield Parkway, has already reopened and features a redesigned main hall, new lounge and bar areas, as well as artwork from local artists.

The venue now includes new digital screens, dynamic audio-visual systems and modern interiors designed to appeal to younger players.

Good to know: According to Buzz, the reopening of Sheffield Parkway resulted in a 200% increase in footfall compared to the previous week and a 131% increase year-on-year

Buzz Bingo has reported year-on-year growth in its latest financial results. In FY23, EBITDA rose 14% while online revenue increased by 31%. The company’s NGR for the year reached £207m.

The wider programme includes the rollout of over 10,000 electronic bingo terminals, new digital membership cards and next-generation self-service kiosks across the estate.

Seven more locations – including Leeds and Stockport – are scheduled for refurbishment later this year, with more to follow in future phases.

The initiative is part of Buzz Bingo’s five-year strategy, announced in 2023, which focuses on leveraging its omnichannel capabilities to achieve sustainable growth. The business also recently acquired two Merkur Bingo clubs in Northampton and Cricklewood as part of its continued expansion.

Buzz CEO Dominic Mansour said: “Our new investment programme will see clubs across our estate being transformed. This is all about modernising bingo for the next generation of players and taking our clubs to the next level to offer a truly unmatched experience for our players.”
