Renato Ascoli has been IGT’s Global Gaming CEO since July 2020, but his career with the group began in March 2015, when he served as CEO of its North American Gaming Interactive division for over three years. He then served as CEO of the wider North American division for over two years.

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS

Since Ascoli started serving as IGT’s CEO, the company announced a wide range of successful deals and expansions. 

In 2021, the group gained exclusive omnichannel lottery licensing rights to Marilyn Monroe after having signed a multi-year agreement with Authentic Brands Group. 

During the same year, the group expanded its sports betting footprint in Arizona via a multi-year agreement with Cliff Castle Casino in Camp Verde, Arizona. 

One year later, IGT’s subsidiary, IGT Global Solutions Corporation was chosen by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation as the primary technology provider of self-service lottery terminals in Ontario. 

In December 2022, IGT and the Société de la Loterie de la Suisse Romande ("Loterie Romande") expanded their contract until 2031. 

2023 began strong for IGT as in February the group expanded its sports betting footprint in the USA via a multi-year PlaySports technology deal with Betfred in Nevada and another deal with Treasure Bay Casino and Hotel in Mississippi. 

Just one month later, in March 2023, IGT continued its USA expansion through an agreement with BetSkybox in Ohio. 

During the same month, the group along with Ruby Seven Studios announced they would expand Ruby Seven’s content library to include IGT’s most popular games, including Wheel of Fortune Slots, Wolf Run and others.

In 2023, at the Global Gaming Awards, IGT was recognised as the best ‘Casino Supplier of the Year’ for the third consecutive year. 

EMPLOYMENT

Prior to working with IGT, Ascoli worked with the Lottomatica Group for almost four years as General Manager for the Italian Market, as its Head of the Business Division for one year and as the Head of the Games Division for another two. 

Between 2005 and 2006, he was in charge of the division for International Development at Trenitalia. His time at Trenitalia also saw him serve as the Head of Operations of the Passenger Division for four years and as the Marketing Head of the Passenger Division for another year. 

Between 1992 and 2000, he worked with Ferrovie dello Stato (Italian State Railways) where he was in charge of Strategy, Planning and Control of the Transportation Area for three years, Head of Marketing and Sales for two years and Head of ‘Prodotto Notte’ (Night Product) for two more years. He also served as the company’s CFO of the Regional Transportation Division for one year. 

Before this, he worked with Gruppo Fincentro – Armando Curcio Editore and he was responsible for the Commercial Exploitation of Group Publishing Assets. This came after being a Consultant for Gruppo Ambrosetti.

In July 2018, Ascoli spoke to the GI team about the success of IGT’s North American operations and, in September 2020, he discussed his plans to reorganise the company into two global business units.
