British

Venue Director, Victoria Casino
Grosvenor Casinos, The Rank Group

Peter Turpin is the Venue Director of The Vic Casino in London, owned by Rank Group (and operated by its Grosvenor Casinos brand), where he is responsible for over 350 employees and everything that goes on inside the casino's many walls.

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS

Turpin stated that, on a personal level, seeing co-workers progress up the ranks is a career highlight for him: “To see people who might start as an assistant manager and then be promoted eventually to a venue director, is very satisfying.”

When Turpin was promoted to Operations Director at Caesars, he was responsible for a resort in South Africa that contained a safari park as well as a casino and aquadrome. Caesars also had three casinos in Cairo, Egypt, as well as all of its UK properties – which Turpin was responsible for.

In July 2021, Caesars sold its EMEA division to Metropolitan Gaming, which then made Turpin its COO, before he went on to work for the Rank Group again.

EMPLOYMENT

Turpin has over 30 years of experience in the gaming and hospitality industry combined, and has spent most of those years in executive roles. The Venue Director began his tenure in April 2023, following a two-year stretch as COO at Metropolitan Gaming.

Starting out in hospitality, Turpin began his career with Rank in its hospitality division, starting as an Assistant Manager in 1989 before getting promoted to Area Manager. Rank then sold the division to another company, with Turpin moving on from Rank and becoming Managing Director of Luminar, the largest operator in the UK at the time.

After working in hospitality for a large period of his career, he was approached by Caesars Entertainment and joined the gaming industry in 2012. Turpin started out at Caesars as a Venue Director before working his way up to COO in 2020.

Being back at Rank Group after nearly 25 years, Turpin claimed that not much has changed other than his responsibilities; according to Turpin, the company still has a very strong culture of “people.”

"I think one of the great parts of working for Grosvenor is being a part of this new journey that the company finds itself on, where we're seeking to break down the perceptions of the traditional casino experience. A big part of how that's being done is the investment the company is making in core sites across the UK and in particular in London" Peter Turpin
