Miller's career journey commenced at Coles Miller Solicitors LLP, where he served as an Office Junior from 1995 to 1999. During this early phase of his career, he honed his organisational skills and developed a strong work ethic.
Following this, he joined The Law Society of England and Wales as a Casework Adviser in October 2000, where he dedicated nine years to regulatory posts. During his tenure, Miller played a pivotal role in ensuring the adherence of legal professionals to established standards and regulations.
In June 2010, Miller transitioned to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman, taking on the role of Head of Public Affairs for two years. Here, he was responsible for enhancing public awareness of the ombudsman's functions and improving transparency.
He then served as the Head of Policy and Communications at the Local Government Ombudsman for England from November 2012 to August 2016. In this role, Miller led efforts to develop and communicate policies that addressed issues within local government agencies, promoting accountability and fairness.
In January 2013, Miller became a Member of the Advisory Board at the Centre for Public Scrutiny, where he contributed for three years. His involvement in shaping governance and accountability practices at various levels of government further solidified his reputation as a thought leader in the field.
Miller's career took a pivotal turn when he assumed the position of Head of Policy and Communications at the Citizens Advice Coventry from November 2017 to December 2019. Concurrently, he also served as a Chair at Citizens Advice, Coventry. During his tenure, he oversaw initiatives aimed at providing crucial support and guidance to citizens, demonstrating his commitment to social welfare.
In May 2014, he played a crucial role as a Governor at Balsall Common Primary School until July 2017, contributing to the development of educational policies and practices at the school.
Miller joined the Gaming Regulators European Forum Ltd in December 2021 as a Member of the Board of Directors. In this role, he collaborates with international regulatory authorities to establish best practices in the gaming industry, fostering cooperation and regulatory consistency.
His journey culminated in his current role as the Executive Director at the Gambling Commission, where he has been making a substantial impact since August 2016. As Executive Director, Miller oversees the Commission's Research and Policy functions and is responsible for the national strategy for reducing gambling harms. His leadership and regulatory expertise continue to shape the gambling landscape in Great Britain.
